In 2010, the total annual quota of work permits for the employment of foreigners in the Republic of Croatia is a little under 7.000, of which 6.000 are in fact extensions of already granted work permits.

In the category "Science and education" 38 work permits will be issued to foreigners applying for their first work permit. Of these, 12 are reserved for researches in the field of life sciences, technical and biotechnical sciences, biomedicine and health, and social sciences.
