The Joint Research Center (JRC) has launched a call for expression of interest to co-create living labs in research facilities in Istria, Italy, and Petten, Netherlands, where different smart city concepts will be tested in simulated urban areas. By integrating research and innovation in real conditions, the Joint Research Center (JRC) will contribute to the development of EU policies in the field of transport and energy.
In the smart cities of the future, advanced technologies focused on security, mobility, energy, housing, health care, water, waste, and civic engagement improve the city management process by making them prosperous, sustainable and resilient, thus increasing the quality of life of their residents.
The call for expressions of interest, which focuses on the field of future mobility and digital energy, is intended for public and private organizations with an emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-up companies and is open until December 31st, 2021.
