The Ministry of Science and Education, Faculty of Geodetics of the University of Zagreb and the European Commission, as part of the Presidency of the Republic of Croatia to the Council of the European Union, are organising an on-line video conference on Earth Observation and the "Eye on Earth" Roadshow, which will be held on 2nd and 3rd June.
These events will be held in the period foreseen by the HR PRES programme, but adjusted to the digital maintenance format. The ongoing fight against the global threat of the CO-VID 19 virus further underlines the importance of this event as the benefits of space-related technologies, i.e. geographical data-based services, have proven to be of great importance to monitor the spread of diseases and other aspects of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
This two-day online event is linked to the Copernicus programme of the European Union. The Earth Observation on-line vide conference will focus on the importance of education on space technologies, as well as on space-related ones, for future affairs and economic growth, including presentation of the results of the EO4GEO project.
The expanded content of the "Eyes on Earth" Roadshow will demonstrate the potential of applications and solutions in the domain of remote observations in addressing the challenges of society and thus give added value to the event. The "Eyes on Earth" Roadshow is an initiative of the European Commission under the authority of the Directorate-General for Defence industry and space (DG DEFIS) and the Executive Agency for small and medium enterprises (EASME).
Both events will bring together researchers and public and private sector experts from Europe and beyond, with the aim of exchanging information on the development and application of space-related technologies, including the development and application of geo-based services. The aim of the event is to bring the advantages of applying these technologies and services to the general public in everyday life and to face key social challenges.
