Science is Wonderful! 2021

Pupils and teachers will have the opportunity to get inspired by scientists from all disciplines through online exchanges, webinars, demos and more. The digital event will take place from 10-26 November, with an additional selection of resources available online through Science is Wonderful! Digital throughout the year.

Science is Wonderful! will kick off with an inaugurationand website launch on 10 November featuring European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel. Tune in to find out more about getting involved, hear testimonies from teachers and scientists, and get a taste of what the live event platform and event week will offer. The inauguration ceremony will take place virtually in 8 different European languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese and Bulgarian.

Science is Wonderful! will build momentum throughout November before the online Science is Wonderful!Live week, from November 22nd- 26th. During the event week, a series of webinars in the scientists’ native languages and activities exploring science from all angles will take place alongside tailored Meet the Scientist! sessions for teachers and students to follow experiments and hear the real stories behind life-changing scientific discoveries. The interactive event platform will allow pupils to engage and ask any questions they want to brilliant scientists in their language.

Marking the end of Science is Wonderful! Live week on 26 November, theclosing ceremony featuring Themis Christophidou, Director General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture at the European Commission, is a chance to recap the highlights, and hear reflections from teachers, students and scientists. It will present opportunities to explore the range of options available to continue sharing and learning from the growing Science is Wonderful! community, and a wealth of other EU learning initiatives for young people and teachers will be presented.
