Interested in joining a biomedicine international training research programme? Have in mind a research project? If so, we are pleased to announce you that the 2nd international BITRECS call is now open until September 30th 2018. Don’t miss the opportunity!

The present international and peer-reviewed call seeks to recruit 10 promising and motivated postdoctoral clinician-scientists of the BITRECS training research programme. A new mobility scheme and updated eligibility criteria are now available!

What is Bitrecs?

BITRECS is an IDIBAPS fellowship programme for excellent clinician-scientists receiving funding from the European Commission.  A network of 18 partner organisations provides the programme with an added value.

This 36-month fellowship, as a research only placement, will allow the successful postdoctoral candidates to boost their research careers with the purpose of becoming clinician-scientist leaders in the future. Professionals with different backgrounds are accepted (medical doctors, pharmacists, biologists, psychologists, between others). To apply to BITRECS all candidates accomplishing the eligibility criteria will have to:

  1. Choose one of the two available mobility schemes (outgoing or incoming);
  2. Design a research proposal fitted into one of the IDIBAPS research lines;
  3. Fill in and submit the form through the application tool in order to be evaluated.

Each fellow will receive around 50.000€ as annual gross salary. They will also benefit from life-long training and networking opportunities especially related to career development, business and entrepreneurship.

About IDIBAPS

The Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute - IDIBAPS) is a centre for research of excellence that tackles high-prevalence, high-morbidity and high-mortality diseases. Located in Barcelona, it is a public consortium whose members are the Catalan Government, the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona’s School of Medicine and the CSIC Biomedical Research Institute in Barcelona.

It represents close to 1,500 research professionals organised into about 100 research groups. Its combination of basic and clinical research allows for a more effective transfer of the scientific advances obtained in the laboratory towards patients. With approximately 1,100 original articles published each year and a mean impact factor close to 5.90, it is the main biomedical research centre in Spain.

  • Social security coverage in the workplace during all the fellowship.
  • Positive and stimulating working environment at IDIBAPS and the outgoing institution with access to appropriate facilities for implementing a high-quality research project.
  • Life-long training and networking opportunities especially related to career development, business and entrepreneurship.

2. Clinical criteria:

Having completed a clinical residency training or equivalence (3 years of part-time clinical activity) in the last 10 years prior to the call deadline.

3. Research criteria:

Demonstrate a PhD or equivalence (4 years of full-time equivalent research experience, option only available for candidates with a clinical residency training) prior to the call deadline.

4. Publications criteria:

1 original article as main author (first, senior or corresponding author) in journals with a JCR impact factor ranked in the first quartile (Q1) for a specific subject category. Only Web of Science Journal Citation Reports (JCR) impact factor rankings for the corresponding year of publication or 2017 (if the 2018 impact factor is not available yet) will be considered.
